The reasonably wide contact patch, and sharp lips combined with a soft durometer makes them grip alot when they are new. At first they chatter when you slide, but once you wear them down to around 70mm they slide nice. For freeriding they slide extremely predictably, and once well worn in, they initiate into slides really easily so you don't have to worry about free riding on square lipped wheels. The main downside to them is that they have a rather large core, and I know this because I cored a set 4 days ago. The core is about 58mm, and orangatang only use this specific core on their "in heats" so if you are looking for a longer lasting freeride wheel i would recommend durians, or stimulus, or fat frees because you will get more life out of them due to their smaller size cores. If you weigh above about 50kgs you do get nice thane lines.
