Shotgun Pro & Pro EVO Fitting Guide
The Shotgun Pro and Shotgun Pro EVO front-mounted child seats share the same fitting requirements, and suit both regular and electric mountain bikes with a standard 1 ? inch steerer.
Installation is straightforward: one of the spacers on your bike's steerer is replaced with the Shotgun Pro spacer, and the seat's rail runs from there back to your seat post.
Will it fit my bike?
The Shotgun Pro suits the majority of mountain bikes and e-MTBs. Use the quick checklist below, then read on for the details.
Your bike needs
- A 1 ? inch steerer
- 10mm of free space below the stem
- A stem at least 50mm long
- 14mm of free space on the seat post
Not compatible with
- Bikes without a 1 ? inch steerer
- Quill stems
- Top tubes that slope upwards
- Rigid-fork bikes such as road and gravel bikes (fat bikes are the exception)
Adapter required for
- Internal cable routing (ICR) through the headset
- Trek Knock Block
- Scott Syncros 1.5
Bike Requirements
1. A 1 ? inch steerer
The Shotgun Pro spacer is sized for a 1 ? inch threadless steerer, which is the standard on the vast majority of modern mountain bikes.
Not sure what your bike has?
- Look up your bike on the manufacturer's website, making sure you select the correct model year.
- Check the fork or frame specifications, where the steerer size is usually listed.
- If you can't find it, contact the manufacturer, measure the steerer yourself, or bring your bike in to us and we'll check it for you.
2. 10mm of space under the stem
The Shotgun Pro spacer is 10mm high, so you'll need at least 10mm of spacer stack beneath your stem to swap it in.
No spacers under the stem? If you have spare spacers sitting above the stem, moving them underneath will raise the stem and may free up the room you need.
3. A stem of 50mm or longer
The front clamp needs a stem length of at least 50mm. You can confirm this on the manufacturer's spec sheet or by measuring it yourself.
Stem shorter than 50mm? You can still fit the seat if:
- You have 20mm of space underneath the stem, or
- You swap to a longer stem.
4. Seat post clearance
The rear of the seat clamps to your seat post and works with dropper posts as well as the common 30.9mm, 31.6mm and 34.9mm sizes. A 27.2mm seat post needs an extra spacer.
You'll need 14mm of exposed seat post for the clamp. If you're short, raising the seat post slightly can usually create enough room.
Other Fitting Considerations
Flat or upward-angled top tubes
The seat's rail runs in a straight line from the stem to the seat post. On bikes where the top tube is flat or rises along part of its length, the frame can get in the way of the rail.
It may still fit if you have extra space below the stem, allowing the Shotgun Pro spacer to sit higher on the steerer and lift the rail clear of the frame.
Proprietary headsets & headset cable routing
Some brands use their own non-standard headset designs. Adapters are available for the following systems, and one is required to fit the seat:
- Internal cable routing (ICR) through the headset
- Trek Knock Block
- Scott Syncros 1.5
If you're not sure which headset your bike uses, the best option is to have someone look at the bike in person, so bring it in and our team will take a look.
Front wheel clearance
Your passenger's feet sit between the down tube and the front wheel, so there needs to be enough room there. Bikes without front suspension generally don't have it, which means little feet may touch the tyre when you turn the bars.
Fat bikes are the exception: even with rigid forks, they usually have plenty of space between the front wheel and the down tube.

Hyper Ride Warehouse
Products showing "In Stock – Ships from Hyper Warehouse" are stocked at our Auckland warehouse and are normally dispatched within 1 business day, unless a different timeframe is shown on the product listing, at checkout, or in your order confirmation.
Supplier / Logistics Warehouse
Products showing "Ships Direct from Supplier", "Ships from logistics warehouse" or similar wording are dispatched directly from one of our suppliers. These items are normally dispatched within 1 working day unless a different processing timeframe is displayed.
Specific Dispatch Timeframes
Some products require extra processing time. For example, "Logistics Warehouse – Allow approx. 2 working days before dispatch" or "Aus Stock – Dispatch in approx. 7–10 working days". Where a specific timeframe is displayed against an item, that timeframe applies.
Dispatch Time vs Delivery Time
Dispatch time is the time required for your item to leave the Hyper Ride warehouse or supplier warehouse. Courier delivery time begins after the item has been dispatched.
The dispatch timeframe shown against the individual product on the product page, at checkout, or in your order confirmation takes priority over the general timeframes on this page.
If your order contains products from more than one dispatch location, your items may be sent separately and arrive at different times. Each parcel may also have a different courier and tracking number.

We recommend delivery to a non-rural town or workplace if you would like to avoid the rural surcharge.

Additional Information
Rural Delivery
Rural deliveries can take an additional 1–3 working days. Exact delivery times can vary depending on the local rural courier route and service frequency.
Signature Required
Orders are sent signature required by default. If you provide permission to leave in your shipping notes, the courier may leave the parcel without a signature where their service allows.
PO Box Delivery
Orders shipped from our Auckland warehouse via NZ Post can be delivered to PO Boxes. Supplier-direct PO Box delivery depends on the supplier's nominated courier. If required, we may contact you for a physical street address.
Shipping Days
Orders are not dispatched on weekends or public holidays. Working-day dispatch and delivery estimates exclude weekends and public holidays.
Order Changes
Once an order has been placed, we cannot guarantee cancellations or edits before dispatch. Contact us as soon as possible and we will help where we can.
Tracking
For orders shipped from our Auckland warehouse, NZ Post tracking is automatically emailed once the courier collects and scans your parcel. Supplier-direct tracking is not always supplied automatically, so please contact us if your expected dispatch timeframe has passed and you have not received tracking.
Tracking & Split Orders
Hyper Ride Warehouse Tracking
Hyper Ride warehouse orders are shipped using NZ Post. Tracking is automatically forwarded to you once NZ Post collects and scans the parcel. Tracking may not show movement until the first courier scan has taken place.
Supplier Tracking
Supplier-direct orders use the supplier's nominated courier. Tracking details are not always automatically forwarded to us or to the customer. If the dispatch timeframe shown against your product has passed, email us and we can request the tracking for you.
Orders From Multiple Locations
If your order contains products from the Hyper Ride warehouse and one or more supplier warehouses, the items may be dispatched separately and arrive on different days.
Different Couriers
Split orders may use different courier companies and have separate tracking numbers. Please check the dispatch information shown against each item in your order confirmation.

Freight Companies
- NZ Post is used for standard orders dispatched from the Hyper Ride Auckland warehouse.
- Bascik is used for specialist bulky freight including surfboards, roof boxes and large bike racks.
- Urgent Couriers operates our Auckland Urgent Tonight same-day delivery service.
- Orders dispatched directly from a supplier are sent using the supplier's nominated courier.
- Supplier-direct tracking is not always sent automatically. If you need tracking after the expected dispatch timeframe has passed, please contact our customer service team.

Orders do not ship same-day. Processing and export prep can take up to 3 business days.
There are currently no express shipping options available for Australia.
We do not ship surfboards or stand-up paddleboards to Australia. We also cannot deliver to post shops or PO Boxes — a residential or business street address is required.

How Australian Orders Work
Order Processing
Orders do not ship same-day. All Australian orders first arrive at our Auckland HQ warehouse, where they are collated and processed for export. This can take up to 3 business days before dispatch.
Multiple Items
If your order contains multiple items, we’ll collate them at our Auckland HQ and ship them together so your order arrives in full.
Remote Areas
Delivery to rural or remote parts of Australia, including WA, NT, and Far North QLD, may take longer than the standard 4–6 business day estimate.
Dispatch Schedule
Orders are dispatched Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm NZ time. Our daily processing cut-off is 3:00pm NZ time. Orders placed after this, on weekends, or on public holidays will be processed the next business day.
Tracking, Customs & Returns
Tracking Your Order
You’ll automatically receive a Team Global Express tracking link once your parcel leaves Auckland and is scanned into the carrier network.
Customs & Duty Charges
International orders may be subject to customs or import duties once they reach Australia. These charges are the responsibility of the recipient. Hyper Ride cannot control, predict, or waive these fees, and we cannot mark orders as gifts.
